Whoopsie…

You know what I’m talking about.  The one time that you simply did something by accident or completely just forgot to do something, and as a result your child either got hurt or you just scared the crap out of them.  If I stop and think about it I unfortunately have quite a few of them between my 3 little monsters.  There are two in particular that come to mind.  I remember them very clearly as if they happened yesterday.  Both happened with my Big B.
My very first Whoopsie damaged me for life.  Well, at least until I had little B and I had realized I wasn’t a horrible mother.  He was only a few weeks old.  I was still getting use to being a mom.  I was doing laundry and needed to switch the clothes from the washer to dryer.  I put Big B in the corner of the couch, elevated a little on a pillow.  (He would never lay flat without screaming – he had reflux which at the time I didn’t know what it was.)  I ran downstairs, switch the laundry, and as I came up the stairs I heard a muffled cry.  To my surprise Big B had rolled over and has stuck between the couch and the pillow. I felt absolutely terrible. I cried and cried.  i was the worst mom in the entire world.  So I thought!
I can’t even believe I am going to tell you this but I am.  Someone will probably call child services for this one.  At this point Little B was born and was a couple months old.  He was sick and I had to bring both of them to the doctor with me. Oh what a joy it is bringing two kids under the age of 2 to the doctor.  The appointment was over and it was time to go home.  As I was putting Big B into his car seat, Little B lost his pacifier and started screaming.  Leaving the door opened, I ran over to his side of the car to give it back to him. He settled down, I ran back over, shut the door, and jump in the car to go home.  All was well.  I was driving on the highway when some idiot decided to cut my off.  I had to slam on my breaks not to hit him.  All of a sudden I felt something hit the back of my seat.  What the heck! I didn’t even know what hit me at first.  OH MY GOD!!!  It was Big B.  After being distracted by the baby I NEVER buckled him in.  He was crying, Little B was crying again, and I was a mess.  I got of the highway and pulled into Babiesrus of all places.  Big B was perfectly fine just scared and upset.  It could have been so much worse.  I can’t even imagine.  Needless to say, I have never EVER forgotten to buckle my kids in again.  Nor has Big B ever forgotten to remind me.  Now, thankfully he is old enough to do himself. 🙂

Oh man!! I can totally see this happening to me! I'll tell you one of my stellar moments also had to do with the car. My fourth child was an infant and I had to go pick up her brother from Kindergarten every afternoon. One afternoon, upon returning home, I go to get her out of her seat and realize she is soaked. I figured she had just peed through her diaper. Nope, I had completely forgotten to put one on her AT ALL in my haste to get my son from school!
