Do You Have A Emergency Kit In Your Vehicle?
I don’t…Well actually Didn’t until Today.
It was a typical Monday Morning. We all accidently slept in. It was time to grab a quick cup of coffee, do the short version of getting ready, throw some clothes on the boys and take breakfast on the run. I looked at the diaper bag and said nope I don’t need that. All I had to do is drop Parker off to Pre-K. I grabbed Jake out of his crib and off we went.
All went surprisingly well. Everyone actually cooperated for a Monday morning. Well that was until after I dropped Parker off to his classroom. We went back to the car and the back doors only unlocked. I put CJ and Jake into the car and crawled over the front seat, pregnant and all. I put the key in the ignition, turned the key, and to my surprise NOTHING. The car wouldn’t turn over at all.
Fantastic. It’s freezing outside, the car won’t budge, my cell phone battery is about to die, somehow Jake’s finger is bleeding, and Jake is still in his diaper and PJ’s from last night. JUST PERFECT. So much for not needing the diaper bag!!! I call my husband and he tells me that our jumper cables are in the garage. That’s REALLY helpful!!!
Thank goodness my husband came to my rescue within thirty minutes with jumper cables a co-worker had.
I have learned my lesson.
Things to keep in your Vehicle Emergency Kit:
Medical Safety Kit
Cell Phone Car Charger (But my advice is to charge it daily! It won’t work if your car battery is dead!)
Diapers, Wipes, Tissues, and maybe a pair of clothes for each child.
A few toys/activites to keep your children busy if you happen to get stranded somewhere.
