This past weekend was very busy. We had friends visit with us on Friday night. We had a great time as always but we (us & the 3 older boys) didn’t make it to bet until 12:30am. Unfortunately the occasional late nights for the kids EQUALS a whole lot of crankiness the following day.
We woke up Saturday morning a bit tired and cranky of course. There was no relaxing for us as our running around began at 8:30am. Running around to get five bodies (myself included) dressed, teeth brushed, and shoes and jackets on to be out the door by 9:15.
11:00 Early Lunch
12:00 Early Naps – Mama’s chance to run to the grocery store
2:30 Off to get Christmas Tree
followed by getting tree up and baking until 12am for my niece and nephews party the next day.
It was a very busy eventful day. Sunday was just as busy if not more.
Sunday am we were at Target by 9am getting a birthday gift we forgot about.
CJ had a classmate birthday at 11. Of course we can’t go to the store without getting asked for something a hundred times over. Seriously I believe it’s time to lay down the law it our house. MONEY DOES NOT GROW ON TREES! Our car ride home consisted of me trying to explain that to a 7 year old.
10am – lights on the tree
10:45 – 2:00 party followed by second trip to Target for more lights!
3 – 6 Our second party of the day.
While leaving my niece and nephew’s party CJ falls off their porch and hits his chin on cement. FABULOUS! Thank goodness he was okay besides for a few scratches. But that doesn’t mean there wasn’t any crying involved. Rightfully so I’m sure it hurt like hell.
We explained to everyone on the car ride home that if they wanted to decorate the tree they would have to go right upstairs for tubs/showers as soon as we got home. Well at least the younger two listened. The older two messed around and took their sweet time. SURPRISED!? NO! The puppy was a bit rambunctious when we got home and in the mist of the chaos he knocked over the baby with playful kisses. Unfortunately he scratched his arm and scared him like you wouldn’t believe. I swear it took 15 minutes to settle him down. Two of the other little stinkers started whining for the millionth time on top of that. UGH!!! Deep breathe mama…
So guess what!? It was officially bed time. No decorating the tree, no Christmas show, no books, nothing. Straight to bed they all went. Oh, don’t worry it wasn’t that easy. CJ had a meltdown because yet another thing he wanted didn’t exactly go according to plan. Jake was crying because he didn’t get the piece of candy daddy had promised.
I had enough…A combination of lack of sleep, chaos, and whining children threw mama over the edge. Mama lost her patience and officially had her very own meltdown. I won’t go into great detail but let’s just say that mama had a few things to say, there was a little bit of yelling going on, and maybe even a door shutting a little harder than usual. Eeeek! It ended with all 3 boys being on the naughty list! Maybe even Mama too! Thankfully daddy took over and put them all to bed.
Mommy guilt set in pretty quickly. I felt like I offcially could be given the…
Oh how I absolutely positively despise days like those. And so there I sat on the couch with a glass of wine…wishing…hoping tomorrow would be a better day for all of us.
**On a good note none of them made a peep, literally fell asleep within minutes, and slept until 7:15 am. 🙂
