Mama Wants an Olympus PEN For Christmas

I still have a little bit of Christmas Sparkle in me.  The fuzzy warm excited feeling you get as Christmas is NOW only days away.  I may not be a little girl anymore but I can still make my own Christmas WISH List!

The New Olympus PEN E-PM 1 is officially on it.

Yes, I do realize that Christmas is only 6 days away.  Most likely all my gifts have probably already been purchased.  But a girl can WISH for one anyway.

Here are some of the reasons I want it so much.
It has…

  • Fast Shutter Response. Never miss a shot again with the E-PM1’s Fast Shutter Response time of less than 60 milliseconds. The TruePic VI feature allows for reduced shot-to-shot time by shortening the black-out time between shots.
  • Professional Audio Sound Capture. Take Videos that are able to capture uncompressed CD-quality 16bit/44.1kHz Linear PCM stereo recording or AC3 Dolby Digital audio.
  • Full 1080 HD Video Shoot up to 29 minutes of 1080 60i HD Video and stereo sound in either AVCHD or AVI formats. A Direct HD Movie Button switches you from still to movie mode with just the press of a button.
  • It comes in 6 different colors…Black, Silver, White, Brown,…PINK! and PURPLE!
  • Light-weight design

Absolutely fabulous.  As a mama to four rambunctious boys I take a lot of pictures.  I prefer true in the moment pictures.  I need a good camera.  The overall quality, speed, and ease of use are all very important to me.  A camera that has video quality that is equally as good is an even bigger plus.

I am simply beside myself and pretty jealous that I was not apart of

The PEN Ready Project!
Changing The Way We Capture The World
Olympus gave over a 1000 random people in 6 different cities across the US
the New Olympus PEN E-PM1 for FREE!

Oh yes, I said FREE!  Are you thinking Why?  For What?  Oh for no major reason.  Just to simply show ordinary everyday people how fabulous and easy it is to take great pictures.
To see what they shot, go to http://penready.com.

Take a look at how Olympus surprised people with the Olympus PEN camera below.

What a great early Christmas Surprise. I love to see the reaction on people’s faces when they get something completely unexpected. Pure joy and appreciation. Now that’s what Christmas is all about.

PS.  Dear Santa, I would be very thankful if I received one. ((WINK, WINK))

Mental Notes For Mommy…Try To Live In The Moment & Be Grateful

I would be lying if I said I haven’t had days when for a second I thought “What the hell did I get myself into?” or  “Am I really meant to be a mom?”
Motherhood isn’t easy.  It can be frustrating, overwhelming, and exhausting.
Motherhood changes you.
It teaches you patience and what it means to be self-less.
The instant feeling of unconditional LOVE is like no other.
As mothers, we only want the very best for our children.  Constantly praying we are making the right decisions.  Beating ourselves up if we haven’t.  Hoping we haven’t scarred our child/children for life.  We have good days, fun days, bad days, and sometimes very unpleasant days.  Many of us venture through each day with our regular daily routine and checking off To Do lists.
On occasion we might stop and pause for a moment to truly look at those who surround us and the life we are living.  Life gets so busy and days seem to melt right into the next.  Are you really taking it all in?
But then something happens…

Have you ever had a moment when something happens and you simply STOP what your are doing, take a deep breathe, and your emotions overwhelm you.  In that moment you feel sadness, maybe a little guilt, and happiness all at the same time.
I was driving home when that song about the little boy wanting to buy Christmas Shoes for his mama came on the radio.  UGH!  That song gets be every time.  But this time is was more.  This Christmas a wonderful fun loving friend is no longer with us.  She lost her battle with breast cancer this past May at the young age of 38.  Just a few houses down from ours, her husband and young son will be making their best attempt at celebrating Christmas without her.

Then again the very same day…I heard the news that a local young 17 year old girl full of life and promise passed away after fighting for her life for 3 days.  Why…because a man decided to make a bad choice and drive drunk.

There is no concert handbook on motherhood.  No guide to tell us what to do or how to react.  No one knows how long we or our children will be here on earth.

But there is a few things I do know.

We need to STOP comparing ourselves to others.
Stop thinking about what may or may not happen.
Stop worrying about what’s next.

We need to try to live in the moment.  Soak it all in and be grateful for what we do have.

Honoring My Mother

As I Look Back…

As I look back on my life
I find myself wondering…
Did I remember to thank you
for all that you have done for me?
For all of the times you were by my side
to help me celebrate my successes
and accept my defeats?
Or for teaching me the value of hard work,
good judgement, courage, and honesty?
I wonder if I’ve ever thanked you
for the simple things…
The laughter, smiles, and quiet times we’ve shared?
If I have forgotten to express my gratitude
For any of these things,
I am thanking you now…
and I am hoping that you’ve known all along,
how very much you are loved and appreciated.

I am so thankful I have you in my life.  The boys and I have truly enjoyed every minute of having you around more the last few months.  You have helped me in so many ways.  I can put into words how grateful I am that we are so close and you are still in my life.  My boys love you dearly.  I am thankful that you are here to share all my memories of them with me.  I LOVE YOU!
CHEERS to another wonderful year with you!

Celebrating Christmas the Modern Style Mama Way

Celebrating Christmas
It’s my favorite time of year.
So many things and little ones to be thankful for.
The season of giving.
Such a warm and happy time of year.
That little bit of magic comes back in all of us.
Seeing their smiling faces as they had FUN picking out just the right tree.

 Mason’s Very First Christmas Tree!

The attempt at a picture perfect moment in front of our tree.
I tried, I really did.  But I couldn’t quite get one with all the boys and Jaxon too.

Happy 1st Christmas sweet little boy!

Our official lighting of our decorated tree.
Yes, it did in fact finally get decorated.
Just the start of decorating inside!

And as a mother of four boys, it can be a little difficult to keep the house looking so nicely.
So what are my secrets to keeping my house in tip top shape for the holidays?
#1…
I establish one very important rule with my kiddos the minute the first piece of Christmas decor is up.
Do NOT touch any of the holiday decorations.

Well, except if they are helping of course.  But once it’s up the rule applies.  Especially this Christmas holiday season, seeing we have a 10 months old crawling/cruising around and a 5 month old puppy!
#2
We recently came up with this chart below.
Responsibilities
Chores
CHild
Set & Clean Table
CJ _ Mon/Thur
Parker – Tues/Fri
Jake – Wed/Sat
Let Dog Out
CJ _ Mon/Thurs
Parker – Tues/Fri
Jake – Wed/Sat
Feed Fish & Dog
CJ _ Mon/Thurs
Parker – Tues/Fri
Jake – Wed/Sat
Clean Up toys
Make Bed
sort Laundry
Everyone Daily

We have a couple motives for the chart.
#1… To begin (finally) teaching the boys they need to pitch in around the house.
The more children you add to your family the more difficult it gets to keep up with the everyday chores.  I have been getting frustrated that I can clean one room and before I turn around it’s yet again a MESS!  Call me crazy but I’m starting early.  I already got,  “This is boring!”  when I asked the boys to clean up their toys before the chart was established.  Really?!  Do you think it’s my idea of fun cleaning it all up.  Ummm….NO!
#2… It helps me keep the house looking nice & neatly decorated!  Perfect timing if I do say so myself.
How do you decorated for the holidays?  Do you have any useful tips for keeping up the house during the holiday season?
 Happy Holidays!!!
